holy cow! i'll change it back!

I had no idea what an uproar I was causing by asking our feed readers to click on a link! I'm so sorry! When I made a tiny change to our blog feed last night at about 2:00am, it was actually more of an experiment. We want to provide e-mail subscriptions to our blog, but we are discouraged at the prospect of losing actual visits to the site, as this is the only way we can afford to continue creating (blame our husbands--for some reason they don't think we should be going into debt to create great content!). If you want to offer a short summary in your e-mail subscriptions, it changes the feed to summary, too. Within minutes we had comments on this post saying "please change it back!" (Guess I'm not the only night owl around!) But if it's going to make you all mad at us, I'll change it back! Just promise that if you do see a project you like that you'll click on over and leave us a comment. We get lonely sometimes!

Thanks to Jennie and all the others who voiced their opinions. We want you to continue enjoying our site in whatever way is most convenient for you. We love you all, no matter how you join us!

I've been visiting your blog for about 4 months now, yet this is my fist comment - shame on me!

You are such great talent, and share so many fun ideas, and I would miss you dearly if you were not here! So plz do continue - I'll promise I'll do better and comment some more!

Hugs!

I didn't leave a comment on the other post since I just figured it would be another blog I would have to check off of Google Reader but THANK YOU so much for changing it back! I promise to come over and comment when there's something I like.

Thank you! I promise to click and comment in return. :-)

It might be the middle of the night where you are, but the middle of the day where your readers are! I am constantly confused by the time differences in posts I read. Such is the nature of the interwebs!

I check all my blogs through google reader but usually click over to the site if it's a project that interests me (which means I click over with great regularity). Thanks for always showing us such great ideas!

I'd like to thank you for this quickly answer. Usually some blogs dont pay attencion on that.
Please dont think because of that we'll give up on come here. I love this space!

Yay! Generally if I have to click over, I just skip the post altogether. I love being able to read the entire post in my reader. Thanks for changing back!

So for you to get paid for your ads, I just need to click on your site, right? Not just read it in Google Reader?

I know how you feel! I often wonder if anyone actually reads my blog too, and I am terrible about leaving comments! I love your blog!

Clicking is half the fun, right? I don't use a reader as it makes it feel like opening a present when I see a good post title. Good luck with whatever you end up with!

I put a link to all of the blogs I love in a feed on my own blog. I don't like to look at blogs in email form, I love to go to them and check them out!

Sorry, but this post title made me giggle. Poor thing. I do have you subscribed in a reader, but really it's only to tell me when you have a new post. I always click over to see your pretty page. :0) Keep it up, you're fantastic.

LOVE your site! I'd do anything for you! I am not a fan of reader! I LOVE checking blogs...especially favorites like yours!

Thanks for switching over. A feed reader is such a great way to find out when something new has been posted on one's favourite blogs! That's why I need a feed reader. I do click over when I come across something that interests me and then I email it to myself (using shareaholic in Firefox) and keep the email in an appropriately labeled folder. I can find it again with a simple search and I'm back to your site. It's a great system and I'm so glad you've allowed me to keep you in my "sites" by switching back to full feed.

I'll try to comment more often instead of just reading at my own pleasure.

Isn't it sad how lazy we've gotten?? *puts hand to forehead* "An extra click of my mouse?? You're not worth that!!" haha, no wonder we're all trying to lose weight. Like you said, if no one actually comes to your blog, your traffic will be low and you won't get sponsors. And I think all of us readers need to remember, you don't owe us anything. We owe YOU for giving us free ideas and tutorials!

....Sorry, I think this is a little pet peeve of mine! :o) Keep up the wonderful blogging! And know that you're worth an extra click (maybe even two, hehe!) to me! :o)

I am one who reads my blogs via Google Reader - it saves me so much time rather than having to click on each blog in a long bookmark list, with the possibility that it may not have been updated since I last looked at it. I get that you need people visiting the blog, but as a Google Reader fan I appreciate that you offer your full posts to be viewed. I do believe (I may be wrong) that services such as Feedburner can tell you how many are reading it even from a 'reader' if that helps.

I use google reader just to see updates, but I always click over to the sites, I like reading it with all the other stuff on the webpage :)

I love all your stuff

Thanks! :) I've been a baaaad click and commenter too. . .I'll be on my best behavior from now on. :) :) :)

Just for the record, Disney, it's not for laziness that we use feed readers. Quite the opposite! I work from 4:30AM to about 9PM running a farm and a large household and homeschooling seven children. If not for a reader, I wouldn't be able to keep up with any blogs at all in the snippets of time I have available to me. :-)

Thanks again for switching back!

Natalie said...

Thank you for changing it back! I agree with Jennie C - it is not laziness - there are just way too many blogs to keep up with and I don't want my butt at the computer the entire day. I will definitely remember to leave comments when I like something - I don't want you in debt!

Another thanks from a Google Reader user. I always unsubscribe from truncated feeds, even if I love the content, because I just don't have the time to click on every link and wait for pages to load.
