We've had quite a few requests for more manly homemade gift ideas, and we agree--guys are difficult to craft for! I just don't think my husband appreciates a handmade gift the way my mom or girlfriends do. But we found these plain cuff links and thought this might be something lots guys would be able to use. So, we're hosting our first Little Birdie Secrets contest.
We want to see what you would do to dress up a pair of plain cuff links for the snappy dresser in your life. Leave us a comment with your idea, and we'll pick our 3 favorites and send them each a pair of these cuff links to decorate!
Here are a couple of ideas to get your creative juices flowing:
So, what's your idea? Leave us a comment and enter now! All comments must be received by Sunday, December 14 at 11:59pm PST to be considered.
And don't forget, our Klutz and Cutie Patootie Boutique giveaways both end Friday, December 12 at 11:59pm PST! Only one more day to enter!

My husband and I made a bunch of cufflinks a few months ago. My favorite are Legos or the mouse and mouse trap. Here is a link to see them.

I would put the engineers symbol from the National Guard unit my husband served in years ago. I have the pins and would have to work out a way to attach them to the cuff links. He'd be so surprised!
My husband would love money signs$$$$$ on a pair of links. He likes to feel like a big shot!! Thank you!
Oh, great giveaway! I would embroider single letter monograms onto small covered buttons then attach them to the cufflinks.
those are so clever!!
My grandfather worked for the railroad for many, many, many years. Every 5 years his union sent out a tiny commemorative pin. He kept them all and we found them recently and I think they'd be the perfect size for a few pair of cuff links with a special family memory.
My husband's catch phrase recently has been, "if I only had a nickle for...."
So I would put nickles on them!
For fun I would look to find two nickles minted in significant years, ie: the year he was born, year we were married, years he began and ending serving in the army.... I do not know that he would notice but I would know! :)
Thanks!

I think silver, or collored for that matter, buttons would look so cute!
For the sports lover, the logo from their favourite team. Cover with glaze like with the kids pictures. Then when he's dressed in his suit, he can still show his team spirit.
I would put the Linux penguin on them because my boyfriend loves open source! http://www.quest-qld.com/images/Linux-penguin-huge-704931.jpg
I would find pairs of bears, snails, and sporks to put on them. Probably metal charms like the cars?
Bear is my nickname for my husband.
The snails and sporks refer to two of his first fully completed visual effects animations from school. They are what got him his first dream job. :)
I love to crochet, so I would probably crochet mini flowers to put on them, and wear them myself! Or maybe I would crochet little butterflies...
I would get some pics of the girls and use those buttons from Stampin' Up to make them into little photo buttons. He would love that!
My husband and I love to travel and it's fun to go to another country's post office and get unique stamps (and so cheap!) It's cool to see the variety of stamp designs and various languages from around the world. You can take the stamps and mount them to some card stock then adhere them onto the cufflinks. Use a glaze or modge podge to seal. It's a colorful way to remember the wonderful trip you took! (Also works for stamp collectors!) Thanks for the giveaway!
I think a little stainless-steel or brass nut (the kind that goes with a bolt) would be manly and fun. Especially for the guy who'd rather be working on his car than at some affair that requires him to wear a shirt with cuff-links.
I would do a New Zealand flag, and an Australia flag. My hubby's from there. Or, I'd do the monogram thing. He loves Monograms. Or, well, the options are endless!!
i would do silver paper clips for the office!
