When I was working at Lasting Memories, I had a major wish-list item. I'll give you a hint. It cuts paper, vinyl, and heat transfer material, and you don't have to buy expensive design cartridges. If you guessed the Silhouette digital cutting machine, then you must have it on your wish list, too! If you have no idea what I'm taking about, prepare to be amazed. And to want one.
A few weeks ago, Silhouette sent me a free machine to try and review (I know--I've been dancing a little jig ever since!). I came home from Utah to this:
(Jiggety-jig!)
I spent the last year singing it's praises to customers in the scrapbook store, but now that I've had a chance to use the Silhouette myself, all I can say is that it really is AMAZING. I am full-fledged IN LOVE with this machine. Let me tell you why. No, let me show you why. Here is a sampling of some of the projects I've done since I received my machine (yes, I've been busy!):
I have so many great project ideas in my head for this tool, and I haven't even tried the glass etching cream, rhinestone templates, sketching pencils, or printable heat transfer material yet! Check out some more ideas here and on the Silhouette blog (which is incredible, by the way). There are tons of tutorials, FAQs, and great ideas on both sites. Here are a few things inspiring me:
The Giveaway
Okay, enough of my blabbering, here's the big news. Silhouette is letting us give away a FREE Silhouette SD cutting tool and a bunch of free accessories to one of our readers! (You should be doing a little jig about now, too!) Here's what our lucky winner will receive:
*Silhouette SD Digital Cutting Tool (retail price $299)
*Two rolls of vinyl
*One roll of transfer tape (for applying the vinyl images)
*A scraper tool (for applying vinyl)
*A CD of home décor images to cut
*$10 download card to buy new shapes on the Silhouette Online Store.
Are you kidding me? I really don't think we've ever hosted a giveaway this good before! This is seriously awesome, people! Here's what you have to do to enter. Visit the Silhouette Web site and check out all the great ideas and products. Then come back here and leave us a comment on this post stating how you would use the Silhouette if you won. That's it! Want extra chances to win? Link to this post on your blog or become a fan on our Facebook page, then leave us another comment letting us know and you'll get more entries! Just be sure to do it by Wednesday, July 14th at 11:59pm PT. And watch for new tutorials and ideas from me every day of the giveaway!

As the mom of five, personalizing items is not only fun, but essential! I would aslo use it to decorate our walls, since we are a military family that moves often. We like to make our nest personal, but need ton be able to remove the evidence when Uncle Sam says move :)
I would use it to help in my classroom. I just finished school and am about to start my first job at a local middle school as an autism teacher (yippeee!). I think my kids would LOVE choosing designs and love decorating the classroom with designs they helped create! Since I am a new teacher I need all the help in decorating my classroom I can get!! :)
As the mom of five, being able to personalize items is not only fun, but essential! We are also a military family that moves often, so we like to decorate our nest, but be able to remove the evidence when we have to move, so the vinyl cut-outs are great!
What would I NOT use it for is the question! I have wanted one for a couple years now! Cards, lettering, gifts, gifts, and more gifts! (My birthday is July 14th, does that help me win? wink wink)

I...am a labeler. I would use this thing to label everything I could get my hands on. The bags of sugar & flour sitting in ziplock bags? They'd be in matching (labeled) jars. The various bottles of spices that come raining down on my head every time I open the cabinet? Labeled in matching bottles. Come to think of it, I'd probably make some skins for my old video game console collection, as well.
I would use it to cut out applique's for t-shirts. My first one would be a 5th Birthday shirt for my little one!
Just became a fan on Facebook. I like being able to use so many different designs with the Silhouette without buying cartridges

Hmmm ... I'd find a way to quit my full time job, stay home with my kiddos and do nothing but craft. I'm addicted to craft blogs, but just have to live vicariously through everyone else's creativity since I don't have time to do anything! :)

The main thing I would use it for right out of the box is making greeting cards and things like that. I loved that picture on the website where they labeled all the schoolbooks (I'm a college student!).
