I was totally inspired by this darling book, Sew Pretty Homestyle by Tone Finnanger, to make a few stuffed hearts. I used her pattern and made up a few in fabric and felt, embellishing with buttons, yo-yos, and embroidery.
First I made this one to hang on the handle of my front door. I used a pillowcase that needed a new purpose.

It was so fun that I decided to make a bunch more! I had so many of them I strung them on twill ribbon to make a Valentine's garland.
These are seriously so fun and quick--and you've still got a week and half to whip some up yourself! Don't worry if you don't have a pattern. Just draw a simple heart (giving yourself a 1/4" seam allowance) and cut out two. Then embellish the front with whatever you've got. Sew the two hearts right-sides together, sandwiching a ribbon loop between the right sides, and leaving a space open to turn. Turn it and stuff, then hand-sew the opening closed. Now go hang your heart where someone can see it!

These are so cute! I made some from felted sweaters.
To answer a couple of questions, 1. I didn't use a font--it's just my own handwriting. Sorry! But if you get the book we mentioned, she does have a few words in the pattern section that you can trace. 2. I hung my garland across the front of my upright piano. But they didn't photograph well there, so for the photo I hung it from a little end table/cabinet in my living room, and it actually looked really cute there!
those are so sweet.

These are adorable! Thanks for sharing them last year!
Hi, I was looking for some kind of fabric heart banner and ran across yours and it's perfect! However, I just tried making my first heart and the ribbon part (that you hang it from) came out all funny. The fabric is kind of bunched around the ribbon and it doesn't hang right. Any tips or pictures of how to do that? thanks!
