ottlite super awesome craft caddy {giveaway}

One of the best parts of being a craft blogger is being able to tell you all what products out there are actually worth buying (because I'd want someone to tell me!). Recently I received an OttLite Craft Caddy to try and it has taken up permanent residence on my desk. I'm happy to report that this is one craft supply you're going to want to put on your Christmas list this year!

Why is it so cool? Where do I begin? Well first, for obvious reasons, the light! It's awesome, just like natural light, helping you see details clearly and truer colors, which is always good for crafting. 2. It reduces eye-strain, so you can work longer (and later in my case!). Always a plus. 3. It's energy efficient, and bulbs should last up to 10,000 hours!

And last but not least, the base is a caddy (with removable cubbies) that holds your most-used tools!

But wait, it gets better. It has a handle so you can move it from room to room! I love that I can take mine downstairs to use while I'm crocheting at night.

But wait, IT GETS BETTER! This has to be one of the biggest selling points for me. The base also features an extra outlet for your glue gun, sewing machine, whatever! After plugging in my computer, Silhouette machine, and OttLite, I don't have any extra outlets, so this is essential for me. Brilliant!

So did I convince you that you need one of these? Good, because we're giving one of these awesome OttLite Craft Caddies away! Here's what you gotta do. Check out the OttLite site, then come back here and tell us which feature you'd like best about this awesome craft lamp. I'm also curious about what craft you'd use this most for, if you want to share. Be sure to leave your comment by Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:59pm PT for your chance to win! Good luck!

A great lamp...I've been wanting one a while, but didn't know they had this portable/storage version. I really like the portability: I craft in three spaces, depending on what medium...paints in one room, fabric in one room, everything else in another. Having an organizer for the basic tools used in all three areas (scissors, marking utensils, etc.) would be GREAT. I love the extra plug, too...I'm often in some corner, with limited outlets. Awesome!

Katrina said...

I like the portability and compactness of this little light! I'm always looking for better light when working on small projects.

Unknown said...

The extra outlet is a fantastic feature; I don't have enough outlets in my house and especially in my craft room. I'd be using this on my sewing desk since there never seems to be enough light in that area and I'm always squinting to see.

ooh wow was just looking at the bigger Ottlite today and wishing I could get one!!! Love the caddy on this one and the plug in is awesome!!!

The Ottlite Craft Caddy Lamp has it all. It has places to store all the tools that I seem to lose on my work table, an outlet so I do not have to crawl under everything to plug in that must use tool requiring power from other than me and finally a great light to be able to really see my projects. I want one!

Micupoftea said...

Love that the light is true and not yellow, but OUTLET? Cool!! Thats my fav thing~

mercy said...

Whats not to love about this great light/caddy its portable and easy to use for any of my crafting project allowing me to see true colors and easier on my eyes. This is a must have for any crafter.

linda said...

This light would be great. What ever project going you could use it. At cutting, sewing, drawing, or knit or tatt. Would love to have one. Thank you

ChrisTea said...

EVERYTHING about this light is fabulous! I have a small Ottlite so I know how useful the lamp itself is ... but adding the cubbies is a fantastic idea. And adding the outlet just makes it perfection (I don't have nearly enough outlets!). Thank you for the chance to win!

Wow, great contest and lots of great posts. I would love one. I love these lights and they are so wonderful for quilting and patchwork. I can just picture it sitting next to my sewing machine. They would be so happy together. I could also see it being used when working on vintage machines, great light and tool storage. Love the portability. I Just know it would love to live at my house.

What an awesome giveaway! This light/organizer would take the place of my current light that the neck keeps falling over and tipping the whole thing over! The extra outlet is my favorite part since I don't have any extra outlets near my workspace.

Would love to own an ott light! Favourite feature -- the natural light! I have always wanted one, but they are just too expensive to own right now.

mPaula said...

Natural light, no heat output and 30,000 hours --> BLISS!

Nancy said...

I like the extra plug and the portability and the caddy -- it looks perfect!

I would choose a floor lamp because I don't have much desk space. I am a beadaholic and the ott light would help in my color selection.

Amy L said...

I've always wanted an ottlite for doing crafts, but this one would be perfect for my daughter. She makes flowers for clipping on hairbands, shows, handbags, etc. and sells them on Etsy. I know she'd like the extra outlet for plugging in her crafting tools.

I like the extra outlet- I never have enough!!

I love that the lamp has an extra outlet and the supply trays are removable. What a great addition to any craft area.

Jane S. said...

I love Ott lights and couldn't do without both of mine! I use the floor lamp in the living room so I can read and stitch without straining my eyes, and the small portable one lives on my sewing table.

The craft caddy light looks fantastic. I especially like the extra plug-in.

Angel said...

I love that it is portable! My current lamp most definitely is not. And I would use it to papercraft!

Anna said...

One of the many special features that caught my attention is the extra outlet! I would use it for scrapbooking and also for embossing as I would be able to hook in the hot air gun to it. I also like the fact that it is portable and so easy to clear up once you are done of your craft. Thank you so much for offering this giveaway! Hope it will come my way :)

Unknown said...

I love that I would be able to move it from room to room or even take it with me to craft night! I would probably use it most for embroidery!

Karey said...

The feature on this lamp I like the most is, well, the light! Though the ability to carry your tools would be really handy as well! I would definitely use this light for beading and sewing since I do most of that at my desk!

Beacee said...

It's got to be the handle and the caddy. Ready to go wherever I want to sit with my embroidery.

I like that it is multifunctional. This lamp is something special.

I love Ott lights...I have several set up at my photo studio.... but this cute little new one would be great to have next to me as I work on my bears. It has little places to store needles and pins and is easily portable!

Love the light, the plug would be fantastic while making cards in my craft room. I would love to win one! Thanks for opportunity.

I love the extra plug in! So convenient!!!

I was at a stamp/scrap weekend getaway and someone brought one of these lights in. I loved how it was compact and easy to travel with and how she was able to place some of much used tools in the caddy. The lighting was perfect for her. I would love one for all of these reasons!

I love that the light folds up and a handle pops up for easier transporting: basically everything about this little guy! I"d use it for my sewing essentials: pens, scissors, sliding rulers, etc. Then when I'm done I can just move it out of the way of my diningroom table!

kerrykatiecakes2 said...

That extra outlet would be a lifesaver! I would carry this with me from room to room so I could stitch anywhere!

Sarah said...

I would love to win this awesome light. The portability is great. I would use it to keep my tatting things together when I sit with my husband during the fall/winter longer nights. Even if I am not a winner, thank you for the opportunity to try. Sarah

Janet said...

Awesome light with all its extra features! I have one that looks like a desk lamp but has the Ottlite bulb and it's great for paper crafts. I'd probably use this with it's flexible arm, etc. for sewing, and its portability would be awesome for knitting and crocheting.

I'm loving the extra outlet - I'd use it to plug in my heat tool while I make cards!

The UnCoordinated Mommy said...

I like the extra outlet and the portability! I think it would definitely help me with my sewing!

Lindsay said...

My favorite feature is definitely the extra outlet! I'd use it for embroidery/cross-stitch and making felt food. Looks pretty awesome!

Muireann said...

This looks amazing! I love that it's portable - living in a one-bedroom apartment means that crafting can take over very quickly. I love the idea of being able to clear all my tools up quickly! I'd use it for sewing and crocheting at night.

Unknown said...

I love the extra outlet! Fantastic, and handy! I would use it next to the couch. That is where I crochet, and work on putting together scrapbook pages, once I have everything cut out.

Stephanie said...

The portability is the best but so is the storage cubbies!

Tara said...

I like that it has natural spectrum light. It gets really dark here above the arctic circle, and I need all the light I can get when I am crafting. I would most likely use it for all my craft/hobbies--but especially hand work like crocheting. Seems like I am always stooping over that and getting a crick in my neck:)

Nancy said...

Oh my goodness! I love EVERYTHING about this lamp: the natural light is gives off, the portability, the storage, and one of the best parts is the socket. It's great for glue guns, because who wants to drag out an extension cord so you can crawl down under your table or wherever you're working to plug it in. I do sewing, crafts and make jewelry and this would be absolutely the greatest!

Western Lovin!! said...

I love it and I would use it everywhere. In the living room, in my office, even in my studio!! I often need a light and never want the full room light on. to combine a light, caddy and plug is awesome. I would love to win this!!

Love that it folds up but that extra outlet is DA BOMB! Definitely would be helpful in my scrapbook closet - the lighting is awful!

becky said...

the portability has to be the best feature. between lack of lighting fixture,my eyes in general this feature would really help with cutting, sewing, applique etc.I have always been a little obsessed with ott lighting

mrsartsmrcrafts said...

I love the extra outlet! It would be so convenient for plugging in a hot glue gun right at my desk.

Mimi's Whimey said...

I'm always needing better lighting and storage for my gadgets, but the feature that could probably get me the most excited is the outlet. I can hardly imagine how wonderful life would be without having to crawl under my craft table to plug in my glue gun!

Lisa said...

I love the portability and the extra outlet. I think I would use this most when I did beading. I'm not getting any younger and the light would be extra helpful when working on small focused projects.

I love that it is a caddy and a light all in one! Fewer things to knock over/push out of the way on my craft table :)

lgm52 said...

I like that it's portable but also has a plug-in! Cool! I'd use it for cardmaking.

Unknown said...

The fact that this light is portable is fantastic. I often craft upstairs and down, so bringing the light WITH supplies saves a step. The outlet is certainly an added plus and I know I'd use it at my table upstairs. I've added it to my "must have" list !!

Sharmony said...

I can't think of anything I dislike about this lamp. I think my favorite feature would be the portability. I have and love Ottlites but they are not easy to move around. Having this light, all its' features and portability would be fabulous.

Nancy said...

How awesome is that ottlite! I love the portability of it and the fact that you can fill the caddy and move it room to room. I like to come downstairs with the family because sometimes I get lonely up in my craft room haha!

Melissa Laverty said...

Such an Ott fan! This would be PERFECT to bring to crops! Love it, need it!

JaneT said...

I like the handle that makes it portable and I would probably use it for my embroidery. Thanks!

Shari said...

I like the portability of the unit, the extra plug and the known quality of the Ott Light brand. How can you beat all that? I would use it to take with me when I go to EGA and needlework classes. I would probably have to have 2 so I could leave one set up by my stitching chair and have my needles, scissors, etc handy.

Oh my goodness. I saw this lamp on Pintrest and had to follow the link to see more. This lamp is AMAZING! Let me tell you, I feel like Brick from the movie Anchorman, I love Lamp!! The natural light would really be useful in my poorly lit basement where my craft room is. The extra outlet would be amazingly helpful! I don't know how many times I have tripped over my Cricut cord because I don't have another place to plug it in that is out of the way! It would definitely help my scrap booking, card making and hanging mobile making. The more comfortable and organized I am, the better my work is. Please, please choose me!!!

I appreciate the accessible outlet, it would make a big difference for me. Plus the portability would make my quilting much easier.

I have been sewing up a storm recently, but my workspace needs some reorganization help and this would be perfect! My favorite features I would say are the natural light lamp and all the storage spots for my current project.

Jenna said...

I get headaches from bad lighting so this would be awesome! I love the extra plug and I am definitely wanting to make some garlands right now, so I would plug in my sewing machine and use the light to cut the fabric!

The fabulous caliber of the light gets me, plus the fact that the lamp is adjustable. I do beading and embroidery; this lamp can really contribute to color matching and accurate fine work. Thanks to Little Birdie Secrets, Ottlite is definitely on my map now!

Bloody Ethel Bonnie said...

I especially like the caddy aspect. I'm always setting my seam ripper down in random places. And I need to get a lamp for my sewing table. This could be the great 2 birds with one stone solution!

Heather Chaulk & Little Miricals said...

I use your lights because I have a sight problem and your lighting helps me to see better!! The light is the most important to me, I like the way you can move it and the way you can store the light....If I win this I will be incorporating it into the donation quilting that I do. Perhaps making little cards that could go with the baby/children quilts a message of hope for the cancer victim, a note of thanks to those who donate to make these quilts possible...I could see this being a great help in the making of cards and encouraging notes...thank you so much for this opportunity!! God bless and good luck everyone!!

Coyote Quilts said...

Cool light and an Ott to boot! Love the clear colors from these lights. This one with it's adjustable angle to it's extra socket for that extra cord that needs to be plugged in is a sure winner. With my birthday just around the corner it would be a great present! Thanks for the giveaway! Sharn

mamafrog said...

I would love the light the most for my sewing. I'm older and things aren't as clear as they used to be. Since this simulates natural light it would be great to see what I'm doing.

I love how it kind of breaks down into many interesting features (the lamp that folds down, the portability, and the extra outlet). Plus it has a modern & clean look! Those features singularly are difficult to find, but in one item...whoa!!! I love it!

Junk Loving Girl said...

Oh wow, so many great features rolled into one item! The best feature has to be the outlet because my silly glue gun cable is so short. The light will help with embroidery and the spaces for items will help clear up my desk.

Many great features. I would love to have one. But the best feature? Hmmmmm, probably that its collapsable. since it has this feature, I am sure you could adjust the arm where you wanted it giving you a "sp-ottlight" on your project!

Hi, this cute little OttLite is absolutely cool, i love such multifunctional products. Though alone that it has natural light (and so my eyes wouldn't get that tired after crafting long in the night) makes it attractive for me, the portability and the extra outlet are also features why I wish to be a proud owner of it. Furthermore I find it brilliant because of the little cubbies (also removable - wow). It is really very useful and important from my point of view because I have two adorable but also super curious cats who roll away my tools for fun (paint tubes and threads and buttons etc.) when I am starting to complete a hand-made gift. :) Anyway I could perfectly use OttLite nowadays for cross-stitching a cute picture into the room of my best friend's baby coming next March. Thanks for the gorgeous giveaway!

Unknown said...

love that they made it so easy to clean with the removable cubbies. i am NOT a neat crafter!

Brenda said...

I would love to have that natural light to craft by, crocheting, embroidering, sewing, so many things!!

Turnedgypsy said...

I think the important feature to me is that it is a light, storage and electric outlet all in one unit.

I make home made cards and you need a good light. You can never have too many lamps to craft by..

I am already a fan of Ott light face book, etc pages...now a new follower of you as well

mcwooten1999@carolina.rr.com

I love OTT lights for the clarity of color is gives you. I like the removable bins since I do so many crafts at once, I could just put little things away as I went. I use my daylight lamp for cross stitching right now. I need to get new glasses and having the extra light makes the small Xs easier to see.

BeachGirl said...
