ottlite super awesome craft caddy {giveaway}

One of the best parts of being a craft blogger is being able to tell you all what products out there are actually worth buying (because I'd want someone to tell me!). Recently I received an OttLite Craft Caddy to try and it has taken up permanent residence on my desk. I'm happy to report that this is one craft supply you're going to want to put on your Christmas list this year!

Why is it so cool? Where do I begin? Well first, for obvious reasons, the light! It's awesome, just like natural light, helping you see details clearly and truer colors, which is always good for crafting. 2. It reduces eye-strain, so you can work longer (and later in my case!). Always a plus. 3. It's energy efficient, and bulbs should last up to 10,000 hours!

And last but not least, the base is a caddy (with removable cubbies) that holds your most-used tools!

But wait, it gets better. It has a handle so you can move it from room to room! I love that I can take mine downstairs to use while I'm crocheting at night.

But wait, IT GETS BETTER! This has to be one of the biggest selling points for me. The base also features an extra outlet for your glue gun, sewing machine, whatever! After plugging in my computer, Silhouette machine, and OttLite, I don't have any extra outlets, so this is essential for me. Brilliant!

So did I convince you that you need one of these? Good, because we're giving one of these awesome OttLite Craft Caddies away! Here's what you gotta do. Check out the OttLite site, then come back here and tell us which feature you'd like best about this awesome craft lamp. I'm also curious about what craft you'd use this most for, if you want to share. Be sure to leave your comment by Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:59pm PT for your chance to win! Good luck!

Oh how great. I love the portability. I see Amazon has it out of stock, but Joann's has it on sale for 31.99 but out of stock as well. I think this one is worth the wait as it would be perfect for a paper crafters desk!

OMG this is an awesome craft person essential. The best feature for me is the extra plug in also. I never seem to have enough and am always looking for extras. Oh how I would love to have one of these bad boys!

This light sounds AWESOME! I would love to have one. I do lots of paper crafts but also sew, quilt, knit and create miniatures. It sounds like a GREAT portable lamp for ALL of my crafts/hobbies as well as grading papers late into the night. Thanks for the chance!

I think this would be a great asset to any craft I do but I think the best thing about it is the versatility of the light so I would use it when I am sewing on the couch at night and also take it with me when we go camping so I could sew in the tent after the children have gone to sleep - (we have power in our camper so it would work.)

I love the fact that you can pick up the little caddy - so handy for taking bits and pieces to work on in front of the TV. I would use it mainly for lighting my scrap book pages.

you sold it to me with the socket in the back, that is just genius! It would be great for doing my late night embroidery.

its hard to pick just one feature... if anything the top feature would be the collapsible shade and arm for compact design and portability... with a close second of reduces glare and eyestrain :) thank you for posting this giveaway! :D

I LOVE this lamp. My craft room is on the dark side and I have tried every desk lamp and none of them are bright enough! I love the way they have designed the caddy too. Very versatile!

I like everything about this lamp. It would be great having the caddy to hold my crochet hooks! I've been wanting one of these for so long. I've heard good things about the lighting and it would help me with my crocheting. Thanks for the giveaway!

Catherine said...

I think the extra outlet rocks.

I'd probably use this when I do papercrafts because the lighting at that table is awful.

Thanks for the chance!

Jamie said...

I love that it has a plug in it. I currently can only use plugged in things at certain points on my table and would love to be able to use it where ever I put it. The light is also a great feature

I love all the features and would just it to sew and crochet THANKS!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE OTTLITE. I own a large one that I use in my craft studio. It's great for when I quilt or take photos of my jewelry projects. I'd love to add the little OTTLITE to my studio. The portability makes it the perfect light - I can easily transport it to the living room or other areas of the house when I want to work on projects while visiting with family or watching television.

SMK said...

I LOVE that it folds up and has the handle to carry it from room to room!!!

Irina said...

Oh! I think they're brilliant. I like the fact that you can have all your tools stored right there. I'd use it to make all my quilling crafts. thanks for the chance!

Unknown said...

Wow, such an awesome product and giveaway. I have been wanting an OttLite, just for the natural lighting. I think I need it most for my crocheting but want to try it also for photos of my crafts. The cord storage looks like a really neat feature as well, LOVE.

Wilma Lee said...

I like the fact that you can carry the light (with cord wound up!!) with supplies with you from room to room.I have 2 Ott lights, a table model and a floor model, but this one would be so much better.

KristyCakes said...

This light would be great for making jewelry! Normally I just set all of my tools down and they get covered by other things or get tangled in my thread but if I had a light with a caddy like this I woulnd't have a problem! This would be great for making bead woven projects, as my lighting is never quite right!

JoAnnG said...

I think the portability of the Ottlite is awesome. That's my favorite feature.

Willow Lake Stitches said...

Oh my gosh... it looks like I'm first ! I hope I am able to comment today, as for some reason, "it" wouldn't let me at all yesterday, and I had THINGS to SAY ! Love this OTT light.... have been checking it out for a long time. I would love it for several reasons.... the light, the removable storage...the retractable cord... the extra outlet...where do I stop ! I would use it most for sewing, but also for paper-crafting. Thanks so much for the chance at the giveaway !

What is there not to love about this light? It has so many wonderful features. I like how portable it is. I crochet, knit, and hand sew in the living room but I quilt in the bedroom so it's great that I could take it from room to room.

Kristi said...

Ooh! That light is a treat! My favorite part about it is the lamp itself, but the built in storage for all my necessities is great! I would use this primarily for cardmaking although it would be a great addition for the side of my room where I can't sew at night for lack of light. Do first comments ever win? :)

katie said...

Love this! I have to say, the extra plug in on the light is the best! Thanks for sharing.

The light is my favorite feature...I am in my early 40s and some of you know what that means...the eyes are going. This light would help me see the details when I am hand-stitching.
Thanks for hosting this giveaway!

What an wonderful lamp. I love the caddy but the extra outlet is the greatest idea. My main hobbies are quilting and knitting and I use Ottlites constantly. They are the best.

I love its portability. It would be great to take to crops. I would use it for all of my night time scrapbooking!

Goldie said...

Do you know how awesome that would be for plugging in your glue gun? All of my plugs are so far away from the desk the glue gun has to room to work with!

Carol H said...

I have never seen this before! The best part of it for me would be the light - I need that when I am doing any kind of crafting - and the extra plug in too! This will for certain be on my wish list!!

Jenny said...

I would love this! The extra outlet would be so handy. I would use it for me essential sewing supplies.

jengd said...

LOVE the fact it has a cord storage reel and clip for easy storage AND an extra outlet on the base for your tools! The portability is awesome too. I'd put this on my craft table though occasionally it would probably move to the sewing table.

Mel said...

Love it! I NEED one of these! My sewing table is small and this would be perfect. Great light, holds my tools, AND I love that you can fold the light down and tote it somewhere else. Would definitely be helpful to light up all sewing projects..quilts, snack bags, clothes for my kids. Pick me!!!

Neelima said...

I was just looking at these at JoAnn's. I would love an Ottlite, I think the best would be the light actually because I am currently using an old school ghetto college lamp that doesn't really shine too well on my jewelry making crafts. Also, the storage on the sides would be an easy place to store my everyday tools. thank you for the chance to win! :)

Simply Jessabells said...

I don't have a craft space so I usually set up a fold out table in my bedroom and craft in there when I have the time. Space is limited and the lighting is bad at night especially. The ott light and the compartment would be great. I like that it folds down and can fit under my bed with the table. Perfect. I'm definitely putting it on my Christmas list this year. Thanks so much for the chance. Hope I win.

Wow- this light is super cool. I love the sleek design. My scrapbooking room doesn't have any windows, so it is desperately in the need of natural light. So cool! Thanks for sharing!

I think the ottlite is awesome. It's on my christmas list for my sewing kit. I love that it's portable since I don't really have a sewing room. Thanks for the opportunity and good luck to everyone.

I LOVE the OttLite craft Caddy. I'm in the process of building a new art studio with recycled materials. I'm getting very close to moving in and this would be PERFECT to put on my work bench. I would use it while working on one of my many mixed media artworks and would be happy to blog about it's wonderfulness if I were lucky enough to win. I think my favorite feature is the fact that it's portable. It would be great to take with me to art retreats and over to friends houses when we get together to make art. But I also like the fact that it brings an extra plug up to working level. Well and I love the true light that it gives. I bought a larger OttLite for my mother-in-law a few years ago for mother's day and have always thought that the lighting was perfect for any craft or hobby situation. Sadly I don't own one myself. Thanks so much for the chance to win from you and from OttLite. I'm glad to have found your blog and will be coming by to visit again soon. Hope you have a great week!

I've been telling myself that I need an OttLite for a couple of years now. Winter comes, my natural day light gets scarce, and the overhead light in the room isn't good lighting for working on my projects at my desk. And the bonus features of storage and an extra outlet on this light is awesome!

Caren said...

I definitely like the fact that you can take it from room to room!!! You're right - I think I need one of these:)

Nina said...

The light is my favorite part. My craft room is dimly lit, so this would be perfect!

Aimee said...

I love the cubby thing...and the extra outlet. That is pretty cool.
I would use it most while I sew. The light on my machine is broken and I really need better light while I sew. Thanks for the chance to win!

drmithome said...

I can't believe they make this. Since I don't have a sewing room, I have to cut on the dining room table, sew on the kitchen table and store everything away more than I would like. I am constantly misplacing items because of this. The caddy would give me a proper place for the frequently used items. I definitely could use some proper sewing light. Oh random number generator, pick 1.

Anonymous said...

I love the outlet - it makes things so much easier to have a plug handy on your work surface so you don't have to crawl under something to unplug the glue gun / iron / soldering iron :-) I would love to put this in my craft corner in place of the clip on lamp that I am currently using.

Sherry said...

Oh my goodness, this would be so awesome. I would use it for card making and I love the spaces to put your most used products.

I love Ott Lights! I have one in my sewing room, but have been eyeballin' the craft caddy. Mostly because I can never resist clever organizer thingies. :-)

I might keep this one near the ironing board, where I am always in need of a bit more light.

Thanks for the chance to win.

This would work absolutely perfect for my new craft room. It will be a shared space with my husbands RC Airplane hobby. I can use it for my sewing and embroidery projects and he could use it for repairs (LOTS of REPAIRS). The extra outlet would be fantastic for his soldering iron.

My favorite feature about this remarkable light craft caddy is the removable storage componets - I could take my supplies along wherever I happen to be working in the house. This light would get the most use in my sewing area but I'm sure I would be using it for all the other crafts I dabble in too. Thanks for a chance to win.

Great Give-Away! I am a paper crafter and recently moved my studio into a basement. There is no natural light, which I miss most. But I love the portability of the ottlite super craft caddy, because if it should be to dark downstairs, I could just take it all upstairs and have the best light and my most important tools right there!

Tanya said...

What a great light. The extra outlet is my favorite feature I think. Great for a glue gun. Although I would probably set it up at my sewing table so in that case the caddy would be great, I could put all my sewing tools in there:)

Helby said...

The feature I like best is the portability. I often work at my sewing table located in my bedroom, but there are many times I need to work in another room where there's more space. This caddy would help me transition back and forth b/c it's a pain moving all my supplies around by hand. And I don't both disconnecting my current Ottlite. So this would help a lot!!

Tana said...

I love that there's an outlet. I'd use it for taking pictures of my projects. I've been trying to come up with a new way (an find space) dedicated just for taking pictures.

My favorite features of this "ottlite" are the portablity and of course the concentrated light. I would use the ottlite for jewelry making. I will have to check out Jo-Ann's to see it in person.

Oh, my. This is seriously awesome! I love that it has a handle and seems easy to move - I'm always relocating my crafts to a table that has some clear space and can't be reached by children. ;-)

I love the outlet part the best!!!! And the caddy!!!

Prissy said...

Portable, extra outlet and great light source....I love every single thing about it!

LBCuyar said...

I love that it all folds down so compactly. You really could just carry it around from craft project to craft project - a must for a mommy who who works in the playroom during the day and from the couch by hubby at night!

Meghan said...

this really is an all in one!!! I love the outlet..its always frustrating to get into a project and then juggle and limbo around cords that are too short, too long, too awkard from outlet to table to get further with contorting!

Brooke said...

My favorite feature is that it is portable! I craft in almost every room in my house and this would be perfect! Thanks for this chance!

Ok, this is very cool. I recently took over a space in our partially finished basement for my crafting. I also discovered that for some reason my husband wired all the lights off center in the room, so when I set up my lighting isn't good. This is the perfect solution. I love everything about it; the cord that wraps up in it, the cubbies, the portability of it, and the extra outlet. Genius.
I will definately be watching for this. Perhaps Christmas!!!!

The fact that it has an extra outlet on it is SO AWESEOME! I have a small craft space, and outlets are a commodity! I love to paint and sew, and this would hold those items I need within easy reach so well:)
Thanks for the giveaway!

So hard to decide - but I definitely love how MOBILE it is! Not only would it be perfect for my anytime of day scrapbooking in a 'not so great' lit room...but I could move it with me to cross-stitch or read in the family room while my husband watches sports!!

I really like the fact that its so portable. this would make a really great Christmas gift. I think I'll go tell hubby right now

Portable and an outlet? And the cubbies come out? It's on my list!

The extra plug is awesome.

I would love this lamp because it reduces glare and eyestrain. All my crafts (mostly sewing) need lots of light and this lamp would do the trick.

Stacey said...

I love it! I like the portability and the extra outlet--brilliant!

Jennifer J said...

The light itself, the portability, and the extra plug space are the parts I like the best. I would use it for embroidery and hand quilting. I recently discovered that I cannot do those things on the couch anymore, because my daughter re-arranged the room, and there is no longer adequate light for me. So I am stuck in a chair on the other side of the room, where I cannot see the television. I really need this light!!

Ooo...I would love this! Especially since I'm going to be an art major in college...extra light will be a plus in the dark BFA studios! (My college's are in the basement!)

This is perfect! I have 4 kids under 10 (2 of which are 8 week old twins!!) and get most of my scrapping done at night, when they're sleeping. This would come in perfect for those late night scrap sessions :) I went to their website and fell in love with the Craft Plus Floor Lamp! I might have to ask Santa for that ;)

Kristi Pohl said...

I have a couple of Ott products already, love them! I would use this on my craft desk, the extra outlet would be so handy as I wouldn't have to crawl under my desk anymore-what a great idea! Thanks for the opportunity!

Katie said...

The compact design is something I really need for a new light. I just don't have enough room on my craft table but need a good full spectrum light.

Kelly said...

I've been wanting an ottlite! I love the extra outlet and the caddy. I would park this baby next to my sewing machine for all the little tools I have to stop and look for when I'm sewing!

Mandagirl said...

Ooo! I like the fact that it's portable. I'm always moving locations to craft.

Kimberly Grafton said...

That is amazing. I always seem to end up sewing late into the night, so the fact that it produces natural light so I can take photos of my finished projects when I finish! Although I definitely wouldn't say no to the extra plug!!
I'm getting one whether or not I win!

The J9 said...

I think the most important thing is the quality of the light but I appreciate all of the other advantages as well.
