bedroom makeover and csn giveaway!

I mentioned I was going to give my bedroom a mini makeover a couple of months ago, and I finally got around to it. I looked at everything from drapes to upholstered headboards, and ended up with about everything I needed to make my room over from CSNstores.com. They gave me a gift certificate to help out, and I can't say enough good things about them--the shipping is fast, the selection is out-of-control amazing, and there's something for every price range.

Okay, it's time for our big reveal (drum roll, please). Here's the "before". . .

and the "after"!

The details: you can't tell in the before picture because of the beautiful, warm, summer light coming in the window, but the walls were a yucky off-white. With a little help (okay, a LOT of help) from our friend who is a painter, we gave the room a yell0w/tan coat of paint. Big difference in real life.

Next it was a new bedspread. I found this at Pottery Barn and basically planned the room around it. I wish I could afford the shams, too, but they were almost as much as the duvet cover! I got new 600-thread count sheets from CSNstores.com (I've never had anything above 300-count in my married life--they're heavenly!), and pretty white hemstitched pillow shams. I'm still in the process of adding throw pillows, but it's coming along.

I also picked up a nice curtain rod at CSN to go with these faux-velvet curtains my friend Melynie scored for me at Target for $10!

And of course I added a few handmade items, like my book page wreath and a ruffle pillow to dress up my seriously outdated wicker chair.

I was able to get a couple of the bigger ticket items at CSN, and traded babysitting for the paint job, so my makeover comes in at just under $30! Holy cow! I should have my own TV show.

If you want some help doing a low-cost room makeover, this is the giveaway for you. CSNstores.com is giving one of our readers a $50 gift certificate to spend on anything from curtain rods to rugs to cookware. Or use it as early holiday shopping money--they have toys and games, clothing, and shoes, too! Just leave us a comment telling us what you'd buy with the $50 from CSNstores. Entries are due by Tuesday, November 9th at 11:59pm PT.

I would love to buy anything for our bedroom. We don't have anything to decorate our room. We moved into a house about a year ago and of course decorating all the other rooms have come before doing our room. I still have so much to decorate and would really like to get going so I can make our house a home.

Okay! Love this website. I have never been to it before and it has great stuff. I am currently redecorating my living room and dining room and I really need some stuff. So I would say that it is a toss up between the IMAX 2 Piece Versailles Teal Vase Set and the Safavieh Antiquities Teal / Beige Oriental Rug. Good stuff!

I just recently moved into my first 1BR/1BA apartment. I am a graduate student at Florida State University and having enough money to decorate and furnish my new apartment on my own has been severely difficult. With the gift certificate I could start making my house more cozy. I would love nothing more than to make this new apartment the perfect modern apartment.

I have been turning our apartment's breakfast nook ( they call it a dining room, but we couldn't fit a real table in there) into a playroom for my daughter. There is no overhead light in there so I'd like to buy a playful lamp to brighten the space up!
