ottlite super awesome craft caddy {giveaway}

One of the best parts of being a craft blogger is being able to tell you all what products out there are actually worth buying (because I'd want someone to tell me!). Recently I received an OttLite Craft Caddy to try and it has taken up permanent residence on my desk. I'm happy to report that this is one craft supply you're going to want to put on your Christmas list this year!

Why is it so cool? Where do I begin? Well first, for obvious reasons, the light! It's awesome, just like natural light, helping you see details clearly and truer colors, which is always good for crafting. 2. It reduces eye-strain, so you can work longer (and later in my case!). Always a plus. 3. It's energy efficient, and bulbs should last up to 10,000 hours!

And last but not least, the base is a caddy (with removable cubbies) that holds your most-used tools!

But wait, it gets better. It has a handle so you can move it from room to room! I love that I can take mine downstairs to use while I'm crocheting at night.

But wait, IT GETS BETTER! This has to be one of the biggest selling points for me. The base also features an extra outlet for your glue gun, sewing machine, whatever! After plugging in my computer, Silhouette machine, and OttLite, I don't have any extra outlets, so this is essential for me. Brilliant!

So did I convince you that you need one of these? Good, because we're giving one of these awesome OttLite Craft Caddies away! Here's what you gotta do. Check out the OttLite site, then come back here and tell us which feature you'd like best about this awesome craft lamp. I'm also curious about what craft you'd use this most for, if you want to share. Be sure to leave your comment by Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:59pm PT for your chance to win! Good luck!

faux chalkboard label {back 2 basics contribution}

We're guest posting up a storm over here! First it was our Christmas tea towel for the Holiday Craft Along, and today we're at Brown Paper Packages with a back-to-school, "Back 2 Basics" project! I love the look of the chalkboard vinyl labels for organization that we're seeing on everything from food containers to playroom bins, but I didn't want to buy a whole roll of chalkboard vinyl. My crafty friend Kalli gave me a great secret to make my own chalkboard labels, and here it is, an easy faux chalkboard label tutorial! Love!
Head over to Brown Paper Packages to see this secret, and check out the rest of the great {Back 2 Basics} posts from some of your favorite bloggers!

creative glitter storage from ribbon, glitter, and glue

My crafting idol is named Bethany. She is amazing in every way. Even the way she stores her glitter is unique. She has just started a blog, ribbonglitterandglue.blogspot.com, and we're so excited to introduce her to you!

I'm so happy to share with you, all the friends of Little Birdie Secrets, one of my favorite things in my craft room. These vintage salt & pepper shakers make a really pretty AND functional storage solution for one of my most loved supplies...glitter! I can't go into an antiques store or thrift store now without searching for shakers. Like so many other vintage finds, I love the idea that each of these shakers has a story...think of all the dinner conversations they've overheard!

All shapes & sizes - some are simple, everyday-use type & others are intricately cut crystal with beautiful patterns. All together they make a fun display & keep my glitter within easy reach when I need to add a little sparkle to my projects! Hope this inspires you to use the ordinary for a creative storage solution!

Happy crafting...
Bethany

If you're as enamored with Bethany as we are, visit her blog and check out her latest post of card ideas. Here's a sneak peek!

button storage for button addicts

It's only February, so I can't give up on my resolution to get organized yet! So we continue with the craft closet makeover. I recently beefed up my button supply with a Papertrey Ink order. I LOVE their vintage button collections--the colors are amazing, and so are the prices! I love being able to see what I have in my stash, so I had to find something to show them all off.

I found these little jars for $1 each at Michael's. Seriously? $1? I know. I nearly cleaned out my Lynnwood store location. Don't they look pretty? You could easily dress up a jar like this for a cute and inexpensive gift for your crafty friends. I love these buttons for sewing and paper crafts. I am a button addict!
