be kalli strong {fundraiser}

This is my friend Kalli. Mother of two adorable, imaginative children, wife to the most supportive, gourmet chef husband, crafter extraordinaire, follower of Christ, and all-round ray of sunshine. And she is breast cancer survivor.

I remember a few years back we helped promote a fundraiser for one of Kalli's friends who was losing her battle with breast cancer. Kalli created gorgeous crystal pendants and sold them in honor of her friend, donating the proceeds to breast cancer research. I was so impressed that Kalli would do this for her friend, and was so grateful at the same time that Kalli had beat her breast cancer.

But unfortunately, about 18 months ago Kalli's breast cancer returned and has spread to other organs. Kalli has been enduring round after round of chemo and radiation treatments, almost cheerfully without complaining. This last week she spent several days in the ICU fighting infection throughout her body, yet she emerged and attended her brother's wedding just days later. She is such an example of faith, strength, patience, generosity, gratitude, and love to all who know her. I want to be just like Kalli when I grow up. I want to be KalliStrong.

So many people love Kalli as much as I do, and some of us have joined together to help her family with the medical costs her treatment is incurring. Brittney of Bram Boutique has spearheaded the fundraiser and created several ways people can help Kalli and her family. Our goal is to raise at least $5,000 by August 17! Here are some ways you can help:

1. Facebook Silent Auction. 

We will be holding an online silent auction through the Kalli Strong Facebook page August 12-17. Look for my new crochet hat, The Kalli Cap, that will be included in several sizes and colors! 

2. YouCaring.com fundraiser page.

Donate directly to Kalli's family via the YouCaring.com Kalli Strong fundraiser site. Anything helps, even $1!

3. Purchase products and services. 

We will have several shops and individuals who will donate a percentage of their proceeds to Kalli's family during the fundraiser August 12-17, 2013 (including my Etsy and Ravelry shops!). I will try to update the list as we gain more sponsors:
