write your story - journal jars

I am a writer. I love to write. I used to keep a journal. Faithfully. It was my creative outlet before I started crafting. But then life got in the way (you know, marriage, kids, laundry), and I picked up a couple dozen hobbies. Now I hardly take the time. But writing your story is one of the most important and precious gifts you'll ever give or receive. We're guest posting over Make and Takes today about how to kick start your journal writing. Join us there for ideas to help you write your story. . .

  1. I saw your entry at Make and Takes. I think perspective is so interesting. I don't know if it's because I don't like to write and have no interest in writing, but I have a hard time seeing it as important, which you obviously do. Please take this in the way it's intended - I'm not saying this to argue or disagree with you, but only to marvel in how different we all are. I can certainly see how if you like to write, it is important for you to do so. Maybe you could write a persuasive article about why writing is important for everyone, and not just those who feel that need. :) Again, please take this in the spirit that I intend. Part of the reason I love reading blogs (that other people write!), is because I love seeing how different we all are.

  4. I received a journal and journal jar for Mother's Day this year. It's been a lot of fun answering the questions and thinking about the things I can remember from childhood. I give journal jars 2 thumbs up! :)

  5. i saw your post both here and at Make and Takes, as I follow both blogs. I think it is so wonderful. I too am a writer and hadn't done so in ages, but I have been using my blog lately as art journal so to speak and I can't tell you how wonderful it has felt each night. Thanks for posting this!

  10. This is lovely as is! But when I saw the title of your post, it made me think you were showing how to do what I do, and I call them scrapbook jars. But mine are not prompts, they are the actual things I would put in a scrap book if I ever had time or the creativity to make a scrap book. My three year old loves to open up the story of his birth scrap book jar and take out all of the hospital bracelets, sonogram pics, pieces of baby congratulations cards, tiny hat, etc. I love these mementos, and have no idea how to make a nice scrap book out of them. I have these jars lining the cabinets in my laundry room - like specimens in a science classroom lol!
