ottlite super awesome craft caddy {giveaway}

One of the best parts of being a craft blogger is being able to tell you all what products out there are actually worth buying (because I'd want someone to tell me!). Recently I received an OttLite Craft Caddy to try and it has taken up permanent residence on my desk. I'm happy to report that this is one craft supply you're going to want to put on your Christmas list this year!

Why is it so cool? Where do I begin? Well first, for obvious reasons, the light! It's awesome, just like natural light, helping you see details clearly and truer colors, which is always good for crafting. 2. It reduces eye-strain, so you can work longer (and later in my case!). Always a plus. 3. It's energy efficient, and bulbs should last up to 10,000 hours!

And last but not least, the base is a caddy (with removable cubbies) that holds your most-used tools!

But wait, it gets better. It has a handle so you can move it from room to room! I love that I can take mine downstairs to use while I'm crocheting at night.

But wait, IT GETS BETTER! This has to be one of the biggest selling points for me. The base also features an extra outlet for your glue gun, sewing machine, whatever! After plugging in my computer, Silhouette machine, and OttLite, I don't have any extra outlets, so this is essential for me. Brilliant!

So did I convince you that you need one of these? Good, because we're giving one of these awesome OttLite Craft Caddies away! Here's what you gotta do. Check out the OttLite site, then come back here and tell us which feature you'd like best about this awesome craft lamp. I'm also curious about what craft you'd use this most for, if you want to share. Be sure to leave your comment by Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:59pm PT for your chance to win! Good luck!

I love the little compartments and outlet! Definitely would be in good use for crafts.

LOVE that it's a light AND caddy...no more huge caddy AND lamp base taking up space in my Stamp/Papercrafting table!

I absolutely adore this caddy! We spend most of our time downstairs during the day. In the evening, I come into my bedroom right after I put the kids to bed. I'm doing various "crafts" through out the day. Being able to bring it downstairs and then upstairs again using the handle is great because it means I don't have to make a hundred trips up and down the stairs. However, I think that my most favorite part about it is the light. I end up staying up late to work on various things like scrapbooking or crocheting. My husband can't sleep with the lights on (like most people). However, this light gives me the option to be in the room with him but be able to work on my stuff and see it. Its a fantastic caddy.

I often need to do crafting at night after my kids are in bed so a great light would be wonderful for me! Not to mention having all my bits and bobs organised. I would probably use it for paper crafts - I like making my own artworks.

I can't think of anything I don't like about this!!

Ott lights are the best!! The light itself along with a portable caddy is awesome!! Would use it for all sorts of things, including paying bills (blech)!

I have to tell you that I appreciate your words of advice on different notions and all that is out there. I have been saving to buy an ott lite but with this one I can tell you that as a crazyquilt stitcher it would be perfect for me. I would be able to have the portability to carry all of my threads, beads, fancie fabric, scissors , motifs and all. Withe the extra long cord i could carry it around to any part of my home basically and be able to plug it in. Thanks so much for the chance....and the info on it. sgriff57@comcast.net

How cool is that! Love it! I like the additional plug for heat gun and the little compartments to store things..can never have too many of those :-) I would use it for paper crafts..cards, scrapbooking, etc.

carol said...

This is awesome! I don't have an ottlite yet and would love one in my craft roonm for everything! I need better lighting on my sewing machine table, but it would also be great for scrapbooking!

JamieG said...

i definitely like the natural light lamp.

kelly said...

i like the little caddies! how handy. but what i like best of all is that it's an OTTlite, because that's my maiden name.

Susan G said...

Having storage and light take up the same space would be terrific for my small craft area. I'd love to have one of these.

squareby said...

I think the quality of the light is Ottlite's major selling point for me. My room doesn't get much natural daylight and the yellowy incandescent lights I have aren't great for all the embroidery that I do. I think my eyes would be a lot happier with an Ottlite!

The Becks said...

Love the portability of it! So handy! And super easy to clean with removable parts!

I love the compactibility (if thst's a word). So many lites are cumbersome to take to swaps. This one looks great!

BeausMom said...

I LOVE this thing. I've never seen one so portable and convenient. I love the caddy that goes with it. I would put it on my scrapbook desk and use it for crafts and cardmaking! I'm also thinking one would be awesome on my son's desk for homework.

Nancy said...

I have heard about Ottlites and I would love to win one. My favorite feature is the true color it shows in what you are working on. I am a tole painter and I can't tell you how important that is when you are shading and hilighting.

Carolyn said...

The light is the best part! I craft in my basement and can use all the extra light I can get.

AfricanVenturer said...

I like may things about it, especially how it lets you put the most often used items near you so they are quickly accessible. I also love the outlet in the back. I would use it while making cards and scrapbooking, for sure!

Lauren said...

This craft light looks awesome. We just moved into a new house and the "craft room" has very little light. This would be so helpful. I love the extra outlet as well. So cool. Thanks for the giveaway.

Bailey said...

I just love how bright it is! I would use it for sewing, either behind my sewing machine or at my cutting/pressing area. Thanks for the chance!

The Folk Art Tree said...

There isn't a thing NOT to like! Portable, removable trays...an extra outlet...this is the workhorse of lights!Pam

Kari said...

I love that it is portable, but also the extra outlet- AWESOME! I would use it for all my crafting- sewing, painting, paper crafts, etc.

~april said...

what's not to love? i think the outlet is genius! sometimes you are too far away from the outlet in the wall to reach with your gluegun!

Cassandra said...

My favorite feature is the extra plug! I would be able to keep my glue gun close! I would use it working late on all the Christmas crafts I have coming up!

Crazy Mom! said...

OOO - want!

I tat, so this would be PREFECT to use to do my fine work, especially when I am away from my desk!

amy said...

I love the portability of this lamp because I craft in a couple of areas in my house...finally a single place to store glasses, scissors, pen etc as I knit/crochet, sew, paint and whatever else!

Elizabeth said...

I love the light but I would have to say that the extra plug in is great because I only have one outlet in my craft room and I am constantly switching things around. And i would def. use this to work on my stamped cards!

Unknown said...

I love how the light and the tools are all so compact! I would use this on my cutting table - which I use for both fabric and paper and so have to keep my tools handy but in different compartments.

HoneyBears & SydneyBeans said...

Extra outlet on the base for my tools!!!! YEAH!!

Siobhan said...

I love the portability and the extra outlet! I'd use this for cross stitch and hand sewing.

Tiredmom said...

The design on this is so amazing! I love that the caddies are removable (for dumping small loose items and for cleaning when little hands help!) and that the cord is hidden when it's not in use and the extra outlet is such a nice touch! They really hit it out of the park with this one!

J said...

I love how portable this lamp is. I also love that there are those little things I could keep all in one place as to not lose them.

kmw said...

The extra outlet is great. This would be perfect for crafting.

I think I'd love the light most - I never seem to get good light in my house! And I would likely use it most for jewelry-making - nice to see the colors!

Connie | Daydream In Color said...

The light would be soo perfect on my work table & I love the outlet option because I have to crawl under my table every time I need to plug something in!

My favorite features is that it reduces glare and eyestrain. I would probably use it the most for embroidery but I am sure I would find many other uses.

Sofi said...

I love the portability of the ottlite, I would probably use this for jewlery making or sewing late at night, and then take some pictures without having to wait for day light :)
Thank you!

I love that it relieves eye strain and how portable it is!

I love this Ott light. To pick just one feature is difficult as the craft caddy is so well designed, but what I like best is the extra outlet which I would find so useful. Thank you for this giveaway.

Carole RB said...

Every feature is very interesting. I think one wich is particularly interesting would be the removable storage compartments.I'm a card maker so I'll make cards. Thanks a bunch for the opportunity to win one. I'll cross my fingers....and toes...and...eyes

Carol said...

It's great that you can reposition the light! I'd use it for papercrafting/card-making...

I love this product! The portability, the pockets, the outlet and light color - this is something I have a lot of trouble with since all my lighting is yellow-ish. Thank you for hosting this giveaway!

Michelle said...

I love the light. I craft in my loft which gets a lot of light during the day, but is pretty dark in the evenings. This looks like a good solution, plus I love that it works as storage too!

usagypsy said...

I love OTT lights! I have one, but its just the light. I love the give-away one because of the caddy on it. And the added bonus of the outlet on it is so cool. I use mine pretty much for everything. From embroidery to painting. It really helps these tired eyes. That plus my new reading glasses and no mistakes are ever made.....NOT!

I really love that it is so pertabe because I have 2 stations - one for watercolor type work, and one for embroidery! Love it!

luluvision said...

Oh my goodness! There are so many awesome features in this lamp! I love them all The one big standout is the outlet in the base! I think that would be so helpful since most of the time, my outlets are always just a little bit too far away for whatever extra item I want to plug in! Thanks for the chance to win this! Definitely putting this on my wishlist if I don't win!

Alyssa said...

Best feature? Well other than being an awesome OTT lite, has to be the extra outlet! I am always short on outlets!!!

Deborah said...

I really like the flexible shade. It's great for pointing the light to exactly the spot where I need it. Before I buy it though, I would want to know if the bulb gets very hot, the way the bulb in my current Ott desk lamp does. I'm a papercrafter, and the hot bulb always worries me as a potential fire hazard.

BrendaP said...

My favorite feature is of course the quality, but portability is my second favorite feature. In my home it would probable be most used for sewing but I may have to fight my roommate for it since she does stained glass, sewing, and numerous other craft projects.

andrea said...

AN EXTRA OUTLET!!I can have a lamp, my cricut AND a glue gun all in the same spot?? I would be in cardmaker's heaven!!

looks amazing! i love the caddy at the base. i would put this on my sewing table to replace my 12-year-old desk lamp that currently resides there. i usually leave my scissors laying around and have to hunt for them, so having this would definitely help my sanity. (well, maybe... ;)

Sabrina said...

I love that it is a light AND has storage space. I would use it on my ironing board, and I would store pins in it. The only place I can pin my fabric without the 2 little ones knocking over the pins and pulling down my fabric is on my ironing board....that I have to position against the wall and the bench to the dining room table, so that the kids won't climb on the table to get to me. That makes me able to use the ironing board as a workspace, but it blocks out all of the light from my dim light in the middle of the dining room. I would LOVE this! I would use it every day :0)

Patti M-NJ said...

I am having a hard time picking which option I like best- the whole lamp is awesome! I truly love the extra outlet and washable cubbies, but I think the light itself does it for me- I do some tiny papercrafts and these lights truly let you see the details so much better!

Lani - the flowerlady said...

Portable, compact and the extra outlet are all wonderful features. I'd probably put it in my scrapbooking area! (and then tote it to my sewing area...and have it hang out with me when I'm quilting)

J said...

i just love the fact that the light and caddy are all in one, and the brightness of ht OTT lights in general. I think it would be great to draw, stitch and cut fabric by! thanks!

Karen from MN said...

What's not to like about this lamp...it's portable, it's got spots for all my do-dads, it's got an outlet. I like to scrapbook but my dining area is not the most perfectly lit spot to do that.

WOW! This lamp has so many features! I love that it's portable, and the natural light is so much easier on my eyes! This would make it easier to embroider or crochet in the living room where my husband is in the evenings, rather than go into my sewing area by myself.

I love my Ottlite, but don't have one with the caddy. I think that and the extra outlet are fabulous! I think it would be great for making charms!

Tina said...

I like that the bins are re removeable. So if something stuck on the bottom, I don't have to turn the whole thing upside-down.

Anonymous said...

I think the outlet is the coolest thing for me, too. I typically sew at my craft table and those are all plugged in behind the table. But on occasion, I whip out my hot glue gun. But the cord is so short that I end up on the floor. So, I would love to have an outlet right on top of my table.

Mignon said...

Love everything about it! I like the removable cubbies and love the extra outlet. What a well thought out product! It would be perfect for my cardmaking and scrapbooking.

I like the Ottlight light, and the portability is a huge bonus. I work in tiny things, so good light is important for hese ancient eyes!

marliescohen said...

This light is awesome, portable with everything you could ever want plus it would help me with my beadwork and make the color look more natural. No more waiting for daylight to see if I got the colors right.

Knititall said...

That is amazing! I like the removable cubbies.

Anonymous said...

I tell you what, this is looks like an amazing little lamp. I have just got back into my crafts due to fall season and I am so excited to see this as my eyes are not as good as they use to be. I make jewelry, quilt, and crochet.

I'm not sure what I like more the fact that it's portable and I can move it where I need more lighting or the compartments so I can easily get at what I need.

Thank you so much for offering such a wonderful offer.

I would love to know how well it lights up. Right now I use a desk lamp but it's only 40 watts and it doesn't help unless it's right on top of me.

Anonymous said...

I love mostly how it allows me to be organized but I also love the portability.

I love the fact it's portable. Very cute light.

The light! My craft table is by a big window with great light all day. At night, I have to use the light on my sewing machine!

KimN said...

I love it because it would fit on my craft table; it's not too big and it is dual purpose - a light & a tool holder. So cool.

BearyAnn said...

I would love this lamp. The tool caddy will hold my measuring tape, scissors, extra crochet hooks, etc. Or perhaps the cable needle, and yarn needle and small pieces of yarn for amirugumi facial features.
It looks so easy to carry from the craft table to one of my craft chairs, then to another chair.

CarolAnn124 said...

The light is what I need. I crochet late at night on the kitchen table, usually in the dark. I don't like having the main lights in the kitchen on, they are extra bright (For when my mom comes over, she's legally blind). And, the portability!! Perfect so I can put my stuff away when the kids are eating at the table. :) Love it!

Anya said...

Love the extra outlet...I'd use this in my quilting studio. Thanks for the chance!

martinmosaics said...

Wow! You mean I could actually have incredible lighting in "the cave"? That's my sewing/craft room. It's a small room in our basement that is 20 feet underground! It has horrible lighting. My husband put fluorescent lighting in. But what is even worse is that it takes one of the two lights a full 30-45 minutes to come on. It's a sad situation, but you know what?! I'm thankful I even have this room. It's all mine and I can create till my heart's content. It is a wonderful gift to be able to leave my project sitting out and not have to clean it up every night! My DH likes order...need I say more? I suppose I need to look into one of these lights. Obviously the excellent lighting has great appeal to me! But I also love the extra outlet. How handy is that? :-)

Michelle said...

What I love most about this caddy is the way it compacts. I love that the light folds down and is out of the way so it doesn't get broken while moving it. Should I be lucky enough to win the caddy I would use this daily, I am sure!

Jane said...

There are so many great features and at first I thought the extra outlet was the best. After going to the Ott Lite sight, I think the three positions of the light would give it so many uses. I would use it for quilting and paper crafts.

form and function! I love the new lamps! I would use this for paper crafting as well as beading... pretty much everything! Thanks for the opportunity!

The full spectrum light is definitely the best thing. BUT I must say that the extra outlet would be a huge plus for me! When I'm in my studio sewing, I also have my laptop plugged in, a little portable iron, my cell phone, a regular Ott lite...and I need one more outlet for my printer so I can print foundation patterns and what not. This light would free up an outlet currently used by my regular Ott light, AND give me an extra outlet! Way cool!!

Absolutely wonderful giveaway...I'd use this for my scrapbooking and card making.

Apparently, my comment didn't post! This lite caddie is just awesome! I don't know if I have a favorite but the light folding down makes it so portable!! I really have need for this prize, I broke my lamp, I have been promised one for Christmas, thats too far away. With the darker days looming upon us you must see (as you probably have lights, it's me in the dark)how desperate I must be!! This one also looks so ideal for it's portability and places for so many items in the base. I thankyou for this chance, please help me out of the dark side!!!

The outlet. First being able to see written instructions clearly would be great.

Being disabled due to a broken spine, I like the portability of this light. I'd use mine for every craft that I do.....quilting ( help with colors), needlepoint, cross stitch, my paper crafts and my jewelry making. The little cubbies make it so convenient for me to keep my "tools" organized and ready to move to whichever chair my back chooses for that day. What a wonderful product this is and how I wish I could ever afford one. I can't really think of anything that I do that this light wouldn't help me with.

I would love most the energy efficient QUALITY light it provides - I have had two failures at finding a good lamp for my craft table, and need something that will properly illuminate my scrapbooking and general crafting :)

I like the fact that it is portable - I move my crafting around and would love to have this move with me to another room.

My husband has been begging for an Ottlite forever. He paints Warhammer minatures (yeah yeah, I know, nothing but a family of geeks over here!) and is in desperate need for a bright, true light to paint the fine detail and distinguish the minute differences in colors and shades.

I like the style. It looks so nice sitting on the desk. I would use it for all my crafts, (knitting, crocheting, quilting, beading, and cross stitch). I think it would be most helpful for my old eyes when I do my cross stitch.

Lisa said...

Oooh, that extra outlet would be really nice. I do all kinds of crafts at my table so I couldn't really just pick one that I would use this lamp for.

Holy Moly, what's not to love about this ottlite!?! I love the caddy portion but, and this may seem odd, I love the fact that the cord wraps/stores around the base! Then I wouldn't be tripping over a cord, carrying it from place to place! LOVE IT!

I think that being able to plug in other tools to this light is amazing, because I would use it while cardmaking with rubber stamps. I always need a place to plug in my heat gun! Thanks for the change to add lighting to my rubber stamp efforts.

What's not to love? I probably like that it folds down into itself for true portability, making it more versatile than a standard craft light. I might honestly consider buying one of these if I'm not the lucky winner! Feel free to pick me - my husband will thank you!!! ;o]

The extra plug is a great added feature, and being able to transport it around easily really comes in handy. I really like the natural light, it really helps to see how a piece will look in the day; I am a night owl and do most of my jewelry working late at night.
Thanks for the chance to win!!!

I'm an old lady and I need lots of good light for all my art projects. Right now I've really been into paper sculpting and cutting. I'm also very messy and so having a double duty item that gives me great light and storage would be most excellent! I need a light on my computer desk and that fact that this has an outlet on it would be so useful!

Unknown said...

love everything about it especially the extra outlet. great for all those mixed media details. I could see this in my art room, office, and on a nightstand.
